The end...

Last night, I have watched the ending of The Baker King in GMA 7. I tracked every episode of it even though it is late night. I'm a fan of Kim Tak Gu, the earnest and lovable character of Yoon Si Yoon (real name: Yoon Dong-goo).

The Baker King is a very nice and inspirational Korean drama TV series. The story goes like this:

Kim Takgu is the eldest son of Gu Il Jong, the chairman of Geosung Foods Enterprise, and Kim Misun, his mistress. The Chairman’s wife, Insok, is furious with her husband and shuns Takgu. When his mother is kidnapped, Takgu runs away from home and spends the next 14 years looking for her. Through his journey he enters a baking school owned by Pal Bong, a legend in the baking industry who coincidentally is also the same teacher who taught his father. There he finds Jo Jingu, the man who kidnapped his mother, but he tells Takgu that she accidentally fell of a cliff. Takgu decides to stay at the bakery and learn the art of making bread, like his father did before him. Majun, Takgu’s half-brother is also at the school, hoping to learn about baking in order to win his father’s approval and take over the family business. He is living under an assumed name and never reveals his true identity, still having a hatred for Takgu from their childhood.

It is later revealed that Takgu’s mom is not dead and that she is looking for him. The Chairman, who also spent the past 14 years looking for Takgu, eventually finds out he is at the bakery and is furious at Majun for not telling him. The Chairman wants Takgu, his oldest son, to take over the family business instead of Majun. Majun plots to steal Takgu’s childhood friend Shin Yukyeong and embarrass his family in the process as revenge. Takgu eventually finds his mother, but Insok and her lover (and the Chairman’s assistant) Han plot to rob Takgu of his inheritance so that Majun will take the Chairman’s position. When the Chairman finds out about this, Han goes so far as to attempt to murder Takgu, but he is saved by Jo Jingu. Majun’s plan to embarrass his family works, but it doesn’t give him the satisfaction he expects. He reaches a truce with Takgu and the two agree to let their older sister Gu Jakyung run the company. The show ends with Takgu continuing to work at the bakery with his girlfriend Yang Misun while Majun decides to travel around the world with his new bride Shin Yukyeong. While Manger Han is in prison, the Chairman is happy that his loved ones have found happiness.

Palm Sunday - Palaspas

Palaspas, or decorative palm fronds, are part of the Catholic celebration of Palm Sunday in the Philippines, marking the start of Holy Week. They are brought to the Church to be blessed as part of the Palm Sunday mass and waved as the priest enters the Church, in commemoration of Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem.

The origins of the Palm Sunday palaspas can be traced as far back as the pre-Hispanic Philippines. In his 1589 account, Fray Juan de Plasencia describes how early Filipinos would use “leaves of the white palm, wrought into many designs” to decorate lamps during festivities. Similar uses of the palaspas have also been noted in different non-Catholic ethnic groups across the country, such as the Tausug who use kidlat-shaped leaves as wedding decorations.

This practice was then be absorbed into Filipino Catholicism, with palaspas being used to decorate the fiesta venue apart from being an integral part of Palm Sunday itself. The palaspas-making craft is passed on from family to family, and is usually a brisk business during Palm Sunday; in a report on the ABS-CBN news program Bandila in 2009, palaspas makers have a chance to earn a few thousand pesos during just one whole day of selling their product.

The palaspas is also now considered a local art form; in the same news report, the Manila Archdiocesan Museum sponsored an exhibit on the various designs of the palaspas that have been sourced throughout the country.

"I invoke my right against self-incrimination!"

I invoke my right against self-incrimination!'

Paulit-ulit ko na ngang narinig iyan. E paano ba naman, UNLI daw kasi. ha ha ha...

Pero ano ba talaga ang tinatawag na right against self-incrimination? Eto, ayon sa Philippine Constitution of 1987 Article 3 section 17: "No person shall be compelled to be a witness against himself. This is limited to a prohibition against compulsory testimonial incrimination like extricating from defendant’s own lips, against his will, and an admission of his guilt."

Ang paulit-ulit na 'I invoke my right against self-incrimination', e talaga namang nakakainis kung minsan, grabe... nakakabobo!

Mga Ingleserong Estudyante: No ma'am...
Mga Ingleserong Estudyante: 'I invoke my right against self-incrimination!'
Kataastaasan Guro: Nahihirapan ba kayo?
Mga Ingleserong Estudyante: No ma'am...
Kataastaasan Guro: Hindi pala e, bakit ayaw nyo magtino?
Mga Ingleserong Estudyante: 'I invoke my right against self-incrimination!'

One more:
PTSN: Gusto nyo ba umulit ng 'community service'?
MMC: Ayaw po...
PTSN: E bakit ako idinidiin nyo, ako ba may kasalanan?
MMC: 'I invoke my right against self-incrimination!'
MMC: 'I invoke my right against self-incrimination!'

Ayos ah!!!

Good news or Bad news?

I was stunned yesterday, when I went to school to get my class cards, then ugghhh... I got a 2.75 grade and that was for my Business Correspondence and Technical Writing subject. It's okay, I know I'm not so good in making business letters.

But then, I was surprised when I got a 1 as in flat one grade. I got it in my Oral Communication with Accent Neutralization subject.

So happy, slightly sad. But the important thing I've discovered is I had a better grade despite of being lazy doing activities in school. (-.-)Zzz

After getting my class cards, my classmates told me that today is the enrollment for our summer class. It costs about Php 900.00 if I pay it cash. But if I choose installment, it will reach Php 1,200.00. So, I have only one choice, pay it installment since I have no enough money yet and I'm still paying for my credits.

Think... think... think... and think. I'm always thinking about lots of issues. (-_-*)

Hopefully I can manage it.

It's Summer Time!

Here we go now, summer has already come. People around are now looking for some vacation where they can enjoy bonds with their family, friends, and loved ones. Great!

I'm not yet excited for the summer. Maybe because I'm so busy these days. In coming weeks, we will have a summer class so I'm not expecting to go somewhere to enjoy the vacation. I just focus on my work and study, but if there's an invitation for an out of town, maybe I'll go but it depends on the people, I mean I'll just go if they are my friends or relatives.

But it's very early to have a vacation, since some schools are now preparing for their coming graduation. Oh, speaking of graduation, "Congratulations to all Graduates of Batch 2010-2011!"

In our school Bulacan Polytechnic College - Angat Campus, we had the graduation last March 30, 2011. They are the very first batch who graduated in our campus. Next, in my high school which is Angel M. del Rosario High School, the graduation will be on April 6, 2011. I want to attend on that celebration but I don't know if I'm available on that day.

But then, let's start the happenings of vacation. Enjoy the summer!
